I ordered a SanDisk Cruzer™ Mini 256 MB USB Flash Drive from staples last weekend. They had them for sale with a rebate, so I could hardly resist. Plus, I've been jealously eyeing Kris' thumbdrive ever since he got it for his birthday.
It's pretty cool. Who couldn't use a little tiny storage device that holds more than a Zip disk and doesn't require any extra hardware? I only wish I could have gotten it earlier in the week (it took all week for them to ship it to me) so that I could have moved some files between work and home this week.
I started installing Linux on my other computer last weekend. Some silly (stupid) operator errors caused me to A) take 36 hours to attempt the install - I ended up compiling everything even though I really didn't need to, and B) when I attempted to boot from the boot loader, had a fatal error that rendered the entire process worthless. I must have missed some critical step in the installation instructions, because the kernel didn't seem to exist where it was supposed to when all was said and done.
At this/that point, I don't know what to do to recover, so I'm going to try it again from the very beginning, and hopefully be more careful about what I'm doing.
Other than that, I've been spending 40 hrs a week at work, 10 hrs a week commuting, and large part of the rest of the time helping Kris with various film projects. Wednesday we spent several hours setting up and shooting on the green screen at Hamilton so that Kris could turn his midterm for Digital Compositing. The footage consists mostly of me walking in and out of the frame. It's gripping I tell you.
There you go. Not the exciting tales you'd hoped for, I'm sure, but maybe it will be enough to keep you from renting the space out from under me :)
