Good News, Everyone!

I am pleased to announce that I am gainfully employed!

I have not gotten the official in-writing offer letter (should come later this week), but I was extended the offer early this afternoon. After explaining my upcoming vacation situation, they got back to me and still offered me the job.

So, I begin working at the Savannah College of Art and Design on Monday, November 2nd. I will find out more details then, for instance, I don't know yet whether I am an hourly or salaried employee. I also don't know whether I will have to take leave without pay for the time away in November-December or if it will count against future vacation accrued.

The job is in the registrar's office. Job title is Data Quality Coordinator. It's a new position, so I don't know that it is a well defined role as of yet. I know that I will be spending a great deal of time looking at BANNER, the school's registration / alumni / financial aid / payroll / etc. system, running reports, and such. I will occasionally have to deal with students and help with actual registration and data entry.

I don't know *anything* about banner, except that most universities use it in some form or fashion. If anyone knows anything about it that might be helpful, drop me a line.

So, as you can probably guess, I am extremely giddy. I have now been retired for five months, and I am quite ready to have something to think about besides "how are we going to pay these bills?"

CONGRATS! I'm sure that helps not only the pocketbook, but the mental status, as well.

Tell me about your vacation plans...

I hope Banner is better than People Soft...Or perhaps it's the People rather than the Soft that has made UHCL crazy trying to use it.

We use Bannerweb at STLCC. It's ok...seems like it could be better... but I don't know what other sort registration/student services web programs are out there...

I wouldn't worry too much, if the idiots at STLCC can (ab)use it, you should have no probs.

Oh and congrats!

GREAT NEWS - A 'BANNER' DAY!

Best of luck, sounds interesting. I suspect you'll have the automated registration system bowing to your every command in very short order.

..and do tell us about your vacation plans. I was thinking of heading that way in December, but if you all are not going to be there...

Will your working at SCAD get your family any cut rates for tuition? That would be extra nice...Maybe in-state rates?

Whoo hoOOO!!! Congratulations, that rules.

I've used BANNER before. It sucks. But having a job is better. Congrats and best of luck to you.
