Wedding Anniversaries

Our second wedding anniversary is rapidly approaching, so it's time to get out the "Wedding Anniversary" chart to see what's an appropriate gift for this, our second anniversary.

Our first anniversary was celebrated two weeks after the actual day with a trip to Eureka Springs, Arkansas, so we are zero for one on the suggested anniversary gift list (traditional gift: Paper). Contemporary gift for the first anniversary is Clocks; I don't know anyone who needs another damn clock.
Suggestion for the first anniversary: Bottle of Champagne. Trip to Eureka Springs also passable.

Traditional second anniversary gift is Cotton, contemporary is China. We've decided: Playstation 2.

Third anniversary: traditional gift Leather; contemporary Crystal or Glass.
Try: GameCube.

Fourth anniversary: traditional Fruit, Flowers; contemporary Appliances. Okay, but you could also try: Canine.

Fifth anniversary: traditional Wood; contemporary Silverware.
Go with: Liquor.

Sixth anniversary: traditional Candy, Iron (what?); contemporary Wood. Also very popular: Complete Star Wars series DVD boxed set. Or any other boxed set of DVDs.

Seventh traditional is Wool, Copper; contemporary Desk Sets. Kris' pick: Books on tape.

Eighth anniversary: traditional gift Bronze, Pottery (or bronzed pottery); contemporary gift Linens, Laces ('n' things). Also very useful: Duct tape.

Ninth anniversary, traditional gift Pottery, Willow; contemporary gift Leather. Ladies, he's not going to buy you that leather jacket you've always wanted, so go for: Pergo flooring.

Tenth anniversary traditional gift is Tin; contemporary gift is Diamond. I don't think those two gifts could be any more opposite in value. How about: Shiny metal robots.

When we make it to our tenth, I'll think of some more. It will be difficult to hide the shiny metal robot for another 8 years as it is.

For our first, we got a paper shredder. Coupla romantics, eh? It was something we needed and it related to paper. Some friends of ours got a pool table for their second, reasoning that the felt was made of cotton. I think they got matching leather flasks for their 3rd. It's possible to have fun with these ;)

If the shiny metal robot will clean, cook, or do chores, I'd up it to year 2!

For which anniversary is it appropriate to send pictures of monkeys?

Whew, glad it was nothing terminal.
I think I should lay off the HTML on this site.

I just knew you would like the monkeys!

Isn't Liquor a gift for any day, really? :)

So for Playstation 2, you want new games? or new PS2? I was planning on buying you a box of QTips...but *shrugs* I guess PS2 game would be ok...

Yes, I am also wondering about that PS2 thing. Do you need a NEW PS2 or some games or perhaps some new controllers. Or was that just you coming up with an alternate list of things for anniversaries?

Forget the Q-tips; buy Swiffers.

Perhaps a combination of the lists would be appropriate? I could make a replica of a playstation 2 out of fine bone china give you t-shrits with pictures of china-playstaion to wear...or a beautiful gamecube out of crystal with the handle made of fine leather; the interior would be hollow to double as a handbag. These would be of exceptional quality and make lovely converstaion pieces; truely a heirloom for generations.

This list was by no means meant as a solicitation for gifts. However, any donations to improve our impoverished situation would be gladly embraced.

I would recommend that we have a new PS2 game developed ABOUT Q-Tps...
