Lizard

Lizard stuck in windowI was minding my own business, mindlessly gazing out the office window this afternoon, when I noticed there were two tiny lizards engaging in some sort of lizardy activity. They were both unusually small lizards - each only about 4 inches long from nose to tail.

I think one lizard was trying to pick up the other lizard, judging by him inflating his throat in a very seductive way. I went back to minding my own business, not being one to get wrapped up in lizard love affairs (or voyeurism).

A little while later I noticed one of the lizards was still on the screen. I moved in to get a closer look, only to discover that the damn lizard is inside the screen. I can't for the life of me figure out how s/he got between the screen and the window.

Intermission

Kris went outside and looked at the problem from there. With a screwdriver, he managed to make a little gap so that the lizard could escape. We both had to bang on the window to get the little guy to go, but finally he is free.

These little green lizzies seem to like to come in and visit. THey are completely harmless and fun to watch...but I'm sure they get lonely if they can't get back out to meet with their buddies. On Mother's day, with all Kayla's kids watching, and several of us Grumps, too, as we sat on the front porch, a couple of these guys courted and consummated their committment in a few short minutes...but their consummation went on for so long that we eventually got embarrased, and went inside!

They are fun to watch, but if they get in the house they like to get under the carpet (I once had to lift up quite a bit of carpet to catch one and put it back outside) and then you don't know where they are and you can step on them. I imagine mushed lizards stink after a while and it would be "hell" to figure out where it was.

Glad you were able to free the little guy/gal. :)
