Dark Thirty

It's 5:51 AM and I'm wide awake.

Something about this time of the morning makes me think of Phil and say "GRRR" through clenched teeth.

When we were less than half a dozen years old, occasionally Phil used to wake me up at this time. We'd get out of our warm beds and go to the living room, turn on the TV, and watch the color bars until the first program of the day came on. I don't remember what station it was; seems to me like it was a network, but in those days they didn't run infomercials all night long, or air reruns of whatever sitcom, they just shut it down for the night.

The first show of the day was this quiz show with fairly young kids. I didn't know any of the answers. I was probably four years old.

I remember thinking that I'd rather be in bed. I never understood why Phil wanted to watch that show, or why I had to get up to watch it too.

I'm going back to bed now. I probably should have done it then, too.

Wow, when you wake up that early, just remember. I have been at work for 2 hours and awake for 3.

So stop complaining, or I might just call you on my way TO work, instead of on the way home. :)

I remember those color bars...and I'm SURE I never opted to watch them over the beautiful and varied images on the backs of my own eyelids...but was forced also by a sibling...yeah...GRRR!
