Dizzy

I believe I'm starting to lose it.

I have really been slipping lately... at work I make mistakes for which I have no excuse. At home I misplace things *constantly*.

Yesterday I spent about 6 hours looking for the buttonhole foot for my sewing machine. I used it the last time I used the machine, so I knew it had to be around somewhere. I looked in the bag with the rest of the various sewing machine accessories, and it was not there.

I cleaned off the Craft Table, hoping that maybe I'd just left it out the last time I used it. It wasn't there.

I went through every single box under the craft table, hoping that maybe in a hurry I'd thrown it in somewhere that it didn't belong. No luck.

I went through my sewing box three times. The first time was a cursory search. The second and third times I removed everything (read: up-end box and put everything back). No buttonhole foot.

I played some Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Got stuck. Went back to looking high and low for the buttonhole foot.

Ate dinner, watched TV, pretty much giving up on the case because I was so distraught. I wondered several times if I could just go to Joann's and buy a new foot that would fit my machine.

Long about the time we were getting ready to go to bed, I realized that the apartment looked like there had been a tornado, and I'd better at least move stuff out of the way so that the fire exits weren't obstructed.

I also decided to pack up the sewing machine since it was on the breakfast table, and it would be an extreme nuisance when I wanted to eat my Cheerios and drink some coffee in the morning.

I don't know why or how it occurred to me, but I suddenly remembered that there's a thing on the machine that detaches so that you can get to the bobbin. In the detachable thingy, there's a little storage compartment.

I FOUND MY BUTTONHOLE FOOT!

I don't know why I didn't think to look there before. It's like that little compartment DIDN'T EXIST in the hours when I had been searching before.

I wasted the whole damn day, and couldn't even get started on my sewing project, because the first step is to make two little buttonholes. Hope everyone else had a Happy Easter.

Welcome to the land of the lost. Your description reminds me of the last time I looked for my zipper foot.

The mistakes at work are because the work is not particularly challenging and so you don't pay attention as well as you might, I think.

I thought sure you were going to say it was on your machine! That's a little like me looking for my glasses...when I'm wearing them! But I'm so blind that eventually I WILL realize that I can see too well to NOT have my glasses on. Welcome to the world of the distracted.
