Mr. Holmes, apparently not well versed in the facts or blinded by preconceptions, has written that abortion should not be available to rape victims because he believes "conceptions from rape occur with the same frequency as snow in Miami" (when in fact a recent study indicates that approximately 25,000 pregnancies occur each year in the U.S. as a result of rape), and in direct opposition to all modern strides towards equality for women has written that "the wife is to subordinate herself to her husband." These are not the statements I would expect from someone being considered for a judgeship in 21st century America.

Surely, Hutchison will not suport his anti-modernity philosophy. This will be my first contact with Cornyn however, so we'll see if he is any different than Phill Gramm.”
